Carry-on & personal item size checker

Will your packed bag fit every flight? Compare 30 airlines, check combined weight and fare rules, and get a repacking plan when your bag is too big or heavy.

1. Which bag are you checking?
2. Outside measurements of your packed bag

Include wheels, handles and bulging pockets. Enter sides in any order; we check rotation without compression.

For airlines with a shared weight limit, include your other bag, laptop and other counted cabin items. Do not include the bag measured above again. A blank field leaves the combined check incomplete.

3. Operating airline and baggage option

Check your booking for each flight, including the return journey. Select the airline operating the plane.

30 matching airlines. Selected airlines stay available in each flight.

Selected: Choose an airline and baggage option.

30 airlines; up to 8 flights. Choose the exact listed fare, route or aircraft scope. If your airline is missing, check its official policy directly. United rules (opens new tab) need direct confirmation and are not calculated here.

Loading your saved check…

Enter your packed bag measurements and flight options, then choose Check my bag. Size, weight and fare results will appear here.

Measure once, check every flight

  1. Pack and close your bag, including any expansion zipper. Measure all three outer dimensions and weigh it if you can.
  2. Choose overhead carry-on or underseat personal item. Check one bag at a time.
  3. Select the operating airline and the baggage option in your booking. Add connections and return flights when their rules differ.
  4. Check each side and total-size limit, per-bag or combined weight result, and entitlement. Use the official policy links to confirm your flight before departure.

If a side is over the limit, reduce the packed measurement by at least the amount shown or use a smaller bag. Removing weight does not fix a size problem. If only the fare is restricted, check whether your airline offers an overhead add-on or requires a different fare.

Supported airlines and official sources

Base underseat rule: 40 × 30 × 20 cm.
Base overhead rule: 55 × 40 × 23 cm.

Each permitted bag has a 10 kg cap. This checker uses outside measurements; over-base dimensions are marked for manual review because of the published handle/wheel exception. No extra space is automatically assumed.

Available options: Free underseat bag only; WIZZ Priority — trolley bag confirmed. Fare choices can change the base weight or dimensions shown here.

The dataset retains each airline's native published unit: inches for the supported US airlines, centimeters for the other carriers. Unit changes convert your measurements using 1 inch = 2.54 cm and 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg. Rounded equivalents on airline pages can differ slightly; confirm a borderline bag with the airline's sizer.

Questions about cabin bag sizes

Do wheels and handles count?

Yes. Measure the outside of your fully packed bag at its widest points, including wheels, handles, feet and pockets. A manufacturer's shell dimensions may leave these out.

Can I rotate my bag?

This checker compares the three sides from longest to shortest, which tests rectangular rotation. It does not assume you can compress an overfilled bag. Where the airline publishes individual sides, each side must fit. A published total-size cap must also be met. For airlines publishing only a total-size cap, meeting that total still requires confirming the bag can be stowed.

What if my carry-on is exactly at the limit?

An exact match fits the published dimensions with zero spare room. A small measuring error or bulging pocket can change that result. Displayed margins are rounded to three decimals, but the calculation uses unrounded values with no physical tolerance.

Does fitting the size limit mean my fare includes a carry-on?

No. Overhead bags can require a paid option. Choose the entitlement actually shown on each booking. The checker reports fare entitlement separately from size and weight, including when a bag fits but the selected option does not include it.

What happens on a connection with a different airline?

Add every operating airline, including the return flight, up to eight flights. You see a result for each leg and the strictest set of dimensions. The checker does not apply one carrier's allowance to a partner or assume that checked-baggage through-ticket rules apply to cabin bags.

Why is weight sometimes not assessed?

A blank packed weight leaves weight unassessed. Where bags share a weight cap, enter the weight of all other cabin items too (0 if none). A missing numeric cap or missing other-item weight is never counted as a pass. Confirm flight-specific rules with your airline.

What can I do if my bag is too big or heavy?

Your result includes a repacking plan: which sides to reduce, by how much, which flights set those limits, and how much weight to remove. It summarizes published side and total-size limits, and flags any missing measurements that need airline confirmation. A rigid bag needs to be replaced if its shell is too large; the checker never assumes compression.

Can I compare airlines or use my carry-on as a personal item?

After checking your bag, compare the same measurements across all supported airlines, with weight checks and the required baggage options shown separately. Overhead results also check whether the same bag fits the personal-item limits on your selected flights. You can switch to a full personal-item check without re-entering measurements.

Why do some size checks need airline confirmation?

Some airlines publish only an underseat-fit requirement, without measurements. Wizz Air also has a handle/wheel exception that cannot be decided from outside dimensions alone. These cases are marked for confirmation instead of inventing dimensions or giving a false pass.

Can I save, share or print the result?

Your last inputs are saved in this browser when storage is available. Copy share link includes the measurements, both weight entries, bag type and selected flight options in the link fragment. Anyone with the link can read them. Print / save PDF and Copy comparison include your submitted measurements, limits, margins and sources. No account is required.
